"Henrietta" did an okay job making hard-boiled eggs, while it lasted. After about 6 months (with usage once or twice a month), I noticed it leaked a small amount. After about 9 months, it was completely useless. The water leaked all over my counter, and thus the eggs were miserably undercooked. It's very cheaply contructed. I would go with more of a brand-name next time, and want to look at it in person to make sure it's made well.

With the ability to hard or soft boil up to seven eggs at once, or poach four eggs, this egg cooker will make a sunny addition to your kitchen countertop. Water boils and steams the precise length of time, due to the adjustable water level. Indicator light shows when in use, and Henrietta "chirps" when eggs are done. Most parts are dishwasher safe for added convenience.Whether you're making eggs Benedict for brunch or egg-salad sandwiches for school lunches, or if you just have a big, hungry family eager for breakfast, this cute device boils or poaches eggs to order and "chirps" when the eggs are cooked. Beneath Henrietta the hen's ample form there's a poaching tray that holds four eggs and a cooking rack that holds seven. Tray, rack, and Henrietta nest on a power base. Pour water into the base to one of three levels for soft-, medium-, or hard-boiled eggs; puncture their big ends with the piercing pin in a separate cooking-rack cavity to prevent shells from cracking; plug in the power base; and steam cooks the eggs. The tray, which requires water at level two, rests on the cooking rack if poached eggs are desired. Afterward, all the hard plastic parts except the power base can go in the dishwasher. --Fred Brack
